  3. This is Version 1.02 of LP.
  4. LP makes it possible, to print fast and comfortable unformated texts,
  5. like program-sources or documentations in the background of Windows.
  6.  
  7. LP takes direct control over the printer, that's why you can print faster 
  8. than you can do this with the Windows-printing. The printer control is free 
  9. configurable. The default settings are set for the new NEC Pinwriters, but 
  10. with the exception of the three definable fonts the settings are standard 
  11. ESC-sequences which should be compatible to most other printers.
  12.  
  13. Features of LP are:
  14.  
  15. - free configurable print margins
  16. - printing with 6, 7, 8, 10 or 12 lines per inch, where 12 lines per inch
  17.   are print with the superscript font
  18. - printing with 10, 12, 15, 17 or 20 characters per inch
  19. - printing of 2 sides of the text side by side in the Two-columns-mode with 
  20.   20 CPI pro Inch
  21. - selection out of three free definable printerfonts
  22. - support of many papersizes
  23. - ANSI or ASCII characterset
  24. - printing of pagenumbers and/or filenames
  25. - free adjustment of tabulator width
  26. - free adjustment of priority of background-printing
  27. - free definition of a file-selection-box, like those of Windows 3.1
  28. - you can save settings and couple each with a special set of files
  29. - free printer configuration
  30. - language englisch or german
  31.  
  32. and with the Windows 3.1 version:
  33. - easy printing of a file with drag&drop
  34.  
  35. and especially:
  36. - animated icon while printing - you  can see the icon printing one page 
  37.   after the other!!! Try it!!

  43. Things LP don't have now:
  44. - free configurable Header and Footer
  45. - no general help (I don't have the time to make some), but I hope most of 
  46.   the program is easy to use
  47. - no support for printers with serial port 
  48. - multiple selection of files
  49.

  51. While startup LP trys to detect if your Windows is configured for german 
  52. language or not. If, LP uses german language and if not LP uses english 
  53. language. If you want to ignore the default language you can add the 
  54. following parameters to the call of LP:
  55.  
  56. LP.EXE /D : german language
  57. LP.EXE /E : englisch language
  58.  
  59.  
  60. You must have Windows 3.1 or Windows 3.0 with the new DLL's CommDlg und Shell 
  61. to run LP.EXE. If you don't have any you can use LP_30.EXE with Windows 3.0.
  62. The only different is, that LP.EXE supports drag&drop with the filemanger of 
  63. Windows 3.1.

  66. You can use and distribute LP free, as long as the following files are not 
  67. changed and you distribute all files together
  68.

  75. I am programming LP because I have fun and not to make any profit. That's why 
  76. LP is free and you don't have to pay more or less high registration charges.
  77. I think it is a bad habit, that more and more program authors want to have 
  78. money even for the smallest programs.

  94. 1.02: - With some language settings LP doesn't start in german mode, although
  95.         the german language was set in control panel.
  96.       - There was no hotkey for two menuitems in the english version.
  97.       - During scrolling the filelistbox shows now every time the correct filename.
  98.       - You could have to start LP maximized, although the Window has no button or
  99.         menu for it (this is an error of Windows).
  100.       - It was not possible to choose a wildcards in the editwindow
  101. 1.01: There was a little curious error:
  102.       If you have startet LP within a TurboPascal program by WinExec, you
  103.       got sometimes a runtime error (depending if you have included WinCRT
  104.       or what style the TPW-window had). With C programs this error never
  105.       appears.
  106. 1.00: First version of LP.
